How we test. Our ratings come from the WCB Chemical Resistance Chart. Each chemical is tested on its own against the WCB surface using the SEFA method, held in contact with the surface for 24 hours, after which the surface is assessed for any change such as staining, etching, softening or loss of finish. Each chemical is then given one of five ratings: No Effect, Excellent, Good, Fair or Failure.
What the ratings mean. No Effect, Excellent and Good mean the chemical is compatible with WCB. Fair means use with caution, as some staining or surface marking is possible with prolonged contact. Failure means it is not compatible and should not be allowed to contact the surface.
What this check covers. This tool identifies the chemicals it recognises from the product name or datasheet you enter and reports their rating from our chart. It can only assess the chemicals it recognises. It does not account for the rest of a product’s formulation, its concentration, temperature, contact time, repeated exposure, or mixtures, all of which can affect the outcome. Results also vary by board colour.
Always test before use. Your products, dilutions and cleaning routines are specific to your site, so we strongly recommend testing on an offcut of the actual board and colour you intend to use before putting any chemical into regular service.
